Fitting Roof racks or Roof top tents to the 300

Tough Touring have designing the Lowest, Lightest and Strongest roof top tent racks and Platform roof racks on the market... They are "Removable and Interchangable"

Tough Touring Roof Racks can be ordered as a Roof top tent rack, or as a Platform Roof rack - sharing the same footrail foundations - They are designed to be removable and interchangeable.

Roof top tents can easily be removed and stored when not in use , and a full platform rack simply droppped on. -

Both racks integrate seamlessly with easy access to the bolts from beside the vehicle.

The Roof top tent rack Weighs in at just 24Kgs and sitting just 20mm off the roof skin -The super low stance brings the mount height of RTT or your Touring gear lower than any other racks on the market -  helping minimise body roll and reduce wind noise. - The Platform Version sits just as low, and weighs 42 Kg in total.

Awnings: Poleless 270 Wing Awnings and the 300

The Toyota 300 series Rear door is 1 piece (no Tailgate) and on most models electronically lifts past horizontal, It Shares Similar Awning fouling issues with the Toyota 200 Series, With  problems with pole less awnings fitted to roof racks typically striking the open door and fouling on the rear doors wind fairing... Some awnings listed here that have the last awning arm finish at the top of the hinge to the best job of getting up and over the door best.

We like the 'ostrich wing 270'  for the 100/200 and 300 series LC as the Ostrich wing has the highest last arm set.   Beware of The Bush Company range of awnings in particular on the 100/200/300 if your wanting to fit them directly to a roof rack... They are a lovely awning but the awning is designed with the last arm finishing on the low side of the hinge to get under the poles on their AX27 Roof tent.

Tough Touring Builds Awning to Roof top tent brackets for most roof tents... These are listed here

Rooftop tents: shortlist of the top 3 best rooftop tents for the 300

Tuff Trek Mk3:

The Tuff Trek Mk3 Might be our pick for the 300 series (and all wagons) because of its load bearing roof -  providing that extra space for gear ontop.  Its s a very low profile tent -  making it probably the best looking set up too.

Bundutec Bundutop:

If the Priority is Airy comfort in poor weather the Bundutop offers unbeatable 4 sided  airflow,  and 4 sided, skirt protection from moisture on walls.

It is solid in strong wind, fast to set up, handles snow, heat and rain well and is probably impossible to beat for the longer term / poor weather tourer. More on the Bundutop here

Boss Aluminium RT1:

Aussie manufacturing at its finest. This tent is a simple design offering Huge space, Excellent airflow and respectable wind/rain performance.

The Boss Tent Competes closely with other 'HifLift' designs, (camp King and Bush Co Ax 27) However its been further refined and improved with considerable weight savings and additional insulation as well as perhaps the best canvas work we've ever seen.  More on the Boss here
