when roof tent is removed, the platform can be dropped on - giving the Discovery full Off Road and Town mode  versatility .

The Roof top tent Rack option  itself weighs around 33Kg complete with all fitting hardware and Planks. - With planks removed and Platform added instead, the Rack weighs in at Approx 47Kgs 
 
Our custom designed rails and  crossbars come in an "INFOLDED " Configuration - Creating the lowest and strongest mounting rack/  foundations for your chosen roof top tent and Awning .
 
Additional Rack stiffness is achieved by fixing points between the Platform or Planks and the Grab handles on the D1 and D2 Roof. 
 
Most Known Discovery 1 and 2 Racks have a tendancy to 'Wobble' left and right during use when really loaded up, causing metal fatigue and in some cases even smashing the rear upper windows in hard offroad use when loaded. This is caused by the gutter mounts combined with the Very HIGH nature of the design (Get up over the Hump)... 
The Tough Touring Roof top tent rack and platform can both be secured to the roof grab bars on the Disco for ultimate strength.  On HSE models - a Nutsert can be inserted into the pipe, on standard models with the solid Alunimium grab bars, a simple hose clamp or muffler clamp around the grap handles works very well. 
 
 
ABOUT THE ROOF TOP TENT RACK OPTION.
This option comes with Unique  type of Rack  Planks to marry up to the roof rails - "3 x Top Hat Bar Planks"  are supplied for Ultimate strength and easiest tent removal. These are by Default a minimum of 1370mm Long... Wider tents can opt for Planks at 1400, 1450 or 1550mm - These bar planks are readily made to accept our Tough Touring Awning to Roof tent rack brackets - Providing a Pole less awning to be mounted  independently to the tent.

 The Tough Touring Racks  sit so low they help reduce vehicle body roll and wind noise - they also improve vehicle stability. 
 
The Discovery swing out rear Tailgate door allows foul free fit up of popular wing awnings, and our rack allows the 270 awnings to be correctly positioned  to  cover the gap between the awning and the door to keep the rain OUT. 
 
The front and rear top hat planks  are pre drilled to accept our Pole less wing awning brackets, giving immense twist strength and a super stiff mount point for oversized wing awnings.
