The Tough Touring  Land Rover Discovery 1 and 2 Half rack weighs in at a mere 12 kgs, and includes a front awning support leg that clamps onto the gutter / supported by the A Pillar.

The Rack Kit consists of
2 x twin gutter clamped roof rails  850mm long each side
2 x Aluminium cross planks (for carrying Max trax, recovery gear, chainsaws, Jerry cans etc.)
1 x Front A Arm Pillar Awning Bracket
2 x Aluminium Plates to form Max trax holder
1 x Rear Awning Triangulation Bracket
1 x Awning Fixing plate
Fitting Nuts, Bolts and Hardware
 
 
 
The rack iteslf when mounted sits 10mm off the roof skin - it is as Low, Light and Strong as we can build it, It utilises the Landrovers Gutter Rails for easy fittment. 
 
The Beauty of the design is that the typical loaded weight with hardcore offroad essentials carried outside the vehicle  is just 40Kgs  or less. The rear bumper allows a step to easily access dirty recovery gear and also keep fuels etc outside the vehicle without fear of adding too much weight. 
 
No other system has been designed in the world that is as low / simple or as strong for true wheeling nutcases that want total performance offroad.
 
Ive added the awning mount to the kit as over time Ive learnt that its worth its weight in gold to keep moisture off swags, which in turn tend to end up soaking wet with dew and piled into the truck wet just plain sucks... 
 
This design also allows for the extra addition of a single cross bar at the front of the truck to create an excellent light weight roof top tent rack if desired.... 
The Tough Touring Roof top tent top hat cross bars can be secured to the roof grab bars on the Disco for a front roof top tent mounting point   On HSE models - a Nutsert can be inserted into the pipe, on standard models with the solid Alunimium grab bars, a simple hose clamp or muffler clamp around the grap handles works very well. A Levelling ABS plastic Block is currently in Dev for a really nicely finished kit.
 
 
ABOUT THE ROOF TOP TENT RACK OPTION.
This Roof top tent rack comes with Unique  type of Rack  Planks to marry up to the roof rails - "3 x Top Hat Bar Planks"  are supplied for Ultimate strength and easiest tent removal. These are by Default a minimum of 1370mm Long... Wider tents can opt for Planks at 1400, 1450 or 1550mm - These bar planks are readily made to accept our Tough Touring Awning to Roof tent rack brackets - Providing a Pole less awning to be mounted  independently to the tent.

The Discovery swing out rear Tailgate door allows foul free fit up of popular wing awnings, and our rack allows the 270 awnings to be correctly positioned  to  cover the gap between the awning and the door to keep the rain OUT. 
 
The front and rear top hat planks  are pre drilled to accept our Pole less wing awning brackets, giving immense twist strength and a super stiff mount point for oversized wing awnings.
