Tough Touring Bar Planks are laser cut and then folded into a 'TOP HAT" Profile' - we do this for unrivaled strength, adaptability and ridgidity right to the end of the bar, allowing minimum flex when hangling pole less awnings, The Bar planks also allow double the fitting bolts each plank, as well as allowing access to those bolts from beside the vehicle. (EASY removal)
You can o up your bolts tight without fear of 'tube crush' issue .
Use of our Bar Planks adds 33mm of height from the edje of the roof rail or canopy top your fitting them too - A common / standardized plank thickness allowing maximum compatability with other racks and rack components should you be retro fitting jerry can holders, high lift jacks etc to the rack.
The Bar Planks can be point loaded to (LOTS) - Perhaps 50kgs per plank. (AS Yet we have not bent one).
You are Buying a SINGLE PLANK, We would reccommend at least 3 for a RTT fit up. . These are available at various sizes to suit various applications - These planks are included as an option on all Tough Touring Roof racks purchased, . ( Both Roof Rail ande Gutter mount vehicles)

Tent type and Rack width - Dependent on Vehicle -
For most applications and Common tents like the Bundutop, Baroud, The Bush Company and Boss RT1, Eezi Awn Stealth, Dart and Blade, as well as Bush Buck , Camp King and almost all known Chinese tents - the 1350mm Wide Bars are the correct width for the tent.
Nissan GQ and GU as well as Toyota 80 Series run gutter racks, and need wider planks to reach the ends of the Gutters (Sit outside the roofine) - and require 1450 cross Bars.
76.78.79 series are better suited to 1450 Bars also
If your vehicle is a wider roof vehicle such as the Discovery 2, Discovery 1, Mercedes G Wagon - 1450 - 1550 Bars are best size for these trucks as their square shape requires longer bars.. Please measure and ensure your getting bars wide enough for your truck and awning to clear any gutter rack feet / obstructions.
Vehicles wishing to run REALLY wide tents such as the Bundutop KING will need to purchase the 1550 Bars anway regardless of the vehicles roof width as the KING Bundutop needs the sides of its chassis supported.
People wishing to run an awning independently to the tent are advised to measure the tents width (Inlcuding any extras protruding like latches / hinges etc) and order Bar Planks 100mm wider than the tent to allow central fit up and 50mm clearance between the awnings back plate and the edge of the roof tent.
