Boss RT1 Hard Shell Rooftop Tent

The Boss RT1 Roof top tent is literally "The Boss." An Australian made tent, it sits at the top of the heap in quality of finish and bang for buck. This tent is about as high spec as we've seen, standard inclusions like inner spring mattress, LED strip lighting, aero mesh, and tig-welded chassis, fully insulated body and retractable outriggers are another level all round. It is early days - but we've managed to add a short "sneak peak" for you (It's our workshop unboxing).

The Boss tent fits into the Roof top tent range in what we'd call the 'High Lift Clamshell' category - as its roof is pitched to a very high angle to achieve almost standing headroom inside the tent.

A tent for those that have to have the best. It is so nice it may make 'camping' possible for even the biggest of sooks! Why not? You only live once!!

Pricing of the Boss tent is very market competitive at its base release price of $6750 (note no roof bars, no lights , no fitting rails or foam mattress).

The base price places Boss beside other great tents like the Bundutec KING Alucab Gen 3 among others.

However, 'comfort options' come into play that you start seeing just how great it is to get a factory tent with things done just right. Unsurpassed quality sums up this Australian manufactured tent - consider the Overlander package at $7850.

Boss takes comfort to new levels with a comprehensive upgrades list that can be factory fitted into the tents.

Tough Touring recommends considering the following (Overlander Package):

  • Innerspring Mattress + $295

  • Aeromesh mattress underlay (prevents moisture build-up under mattresses) +$195

  • Roof rack with two roof rails +$195

  • Dimmable/Multicoloured LED lighting kit (Factory-installed) +$250

  • 12 Volt socket +$250

  • Additional factory solar can be added - 100w Fits perfectly on the front via a Slimline panel - fitted with cross-airflow ribbing underneath to keep the panel cool and performing at optimum - cabling is mounted to a red Anderson out $990 (for solar kit fitted)

  • Interior Ceframo Sirocco 2 fan mount and wiring, as well as internal Ipad mounts, can also be optioned: $385 per mount position.

  • Other options are also available.

Standard features on all Boss tents:

  • Set up and pack up is achievable from the rear tailgate or bar - no need to climb into the tent for fitment of awning poles, etc.

  • Floor and roof insulation

  • Slide-in outriggers

  • Incredible craftmanship - highest build quality we've ever seen.

The tent has enough forward space to add a solar panel up to 160W - and still carry equipment on the rack provided. The Factory Fitted options list on this tent are all first class quality.
